On to the important stuff – the watches in the Olympics Timeless collection. First is my favorite, the kick-ass model that is gonna be a hit in my opinion. This is the Omega Timeless Olympic Speedmaster 5-Counter Chronograph. The concept is straight forward. Apply the Caliber 3888 movement in a Speedmaster case and give it the classic Timeless Olympic style dial. After Omega placed these parts in the proverbial martini shaker, the resultant concoction is great to the taste. Size is likely to be 42mm wide with a steel case. It isn’t even a limited edition, which means you could likely get one! Price for this model is a bit up there at 5,380 euros, not sure about in dollars yet.

This collection is really a great idea from Omega. It was only a matter of time before their Olympic connection went more mainstream. Typically the Olympics theme is only used with limited edition watches that are great, but high in cost and hard to find. Now Omega has decided that the Olympics connection is more mainstream marketable (still not cheap though) – something which which I agree. Thus, we have at least four new watches in the “Olympic Timeless Collection” that not only has very attractive watches, but deeply imbues each timepiece with a classic style and the Olympics + Omega connection.

Last are the Omega Olympics Timeless De Ville 5-Counter Chronograph and the Olympic Timeless Planet Ocean Chronograph Ladies watches. These are pretty straight forward really. You know the movements, you know the style. They are simple revisions of other Omega styles. The De Ville is in steel and 44mm wide with an alligator strap, and a very clean white face. Price for it is 5,760 euros. The most expensive of the bunch oddly enough. Last is the ladies Planet Ocean that looks good but quite masculine. Size is for the ladies though at 37.5mm wide. Price for it is 4,cartier watches,530 euros. Again, I am not sure about US prices or when the watches will be available (though likely early next  year). I do however think that they are a great idea for Omega and look forward to seeing them soon.

The watches here contain one of two movements. First is the Omega Caliber 3313 Co-Axial automatic movement that is the more classic looking tri-compax chronograph with three subdials. This is placed in the Seamaster models. Then there is my favorite,tag heuer, the Omega Caliber 3888 Co-Axial automatic movement first seen in 2008 on this limited edition Omega Summer Olympics watch. The very cool movement features five subdials that look like the Olympic rings. Functions on the 3888 movement are interesting. In addition to a week long chronograph, is a day-date calendar (date is shown in a window at 6 o’clock). Not sure how useful the seven day long chronograph is, or is that is exactly what odd chronograph dial is used for – Omega isn’t clear on that exactly. Both movements are of course automatics, and likely all COSC Chronometer certified.

Style on the watches comes from some of the Omega “throwback” models that look to the 1930s I think. You see what I call “railroad” style Arabic numerals that feel old-timey good. The watches have a variety of very visible hands that are taken from other Omega watches such as the Aqua Terra and some of the Speedmaster models. I think the hands are paired well with the watches they are on. Omega also throws in their retro style logo that is in all red with a look right out of granddad’s era. These features contribute to the “Timeless” part of the collection’s name.

The Olympics connection is not evident on all watches (at least on the face). Though I do suspect the casebacks will have some clear engraving with details on this. The models with the 3313 movement have colorful Olympics rings as the counterweight on the seconds hand. I’ve always thought this logo makes a very attractive touch on the dials. But remember that they will only be moving if you operated the chronograph. It would be neat to see them on a non-chronograph watch, as the centrally placed seconds hand to see the rings sweeping around the dial all the time.

Of course the 3888 models have the chronograph subdials shaped like the Olympic rings – so maybe that is enough. I do appreciate the minimal amount of text on the dial. Omega could have easily gone the cheesy route with Olympic branding on the dials, but they didn’t (or maybe legally didn’t have the rights to).  I have a feeling that the watches are also a bit of a triumph for the brand as they have solidified their relationship with the Olympics until at least 2020.

Next is the Omega Timeless Collection Aqua Terra Chronograph model. Here we seen an application of the 3133 movement with three subdials neatly laid out against a vertically patterned white dial. Here the minute hand is done with the arrow (which makes it more legible in my opinion). Notice that on each of the watches Omega places different combinations of the arrow hands – they can’t seem to decide which style works best (save for the De Ville that is sans arrow hands). The Aqua Terra will be the 44mm wide in a steel case – and likely the most classic looking of the bunch. Love those little Olympic rings on the chronograph subdial! Price is 4,610 euros.

From a design standpoint I consider this watch to be the pre-cursor of the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Survivor watch. Look at the two watches adn you will agree that this Rubens Barrichello II limited edition watch has design cues that made their way into the Surviror watch a few years late. Not exactly the same looks, but part of the same breed. These include the hands, dial design,wholesale watches, light vertical texturing (see the strap links here) as well as the crown and pusher design. The pictured watch was part way “there” and then Audemars Piguet just went the distance with the Survivor. The Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Rubens Barrichello II watch was made in honor of the namesake Brazilian Formula 1 race car driver. For some reason Brazilian race car drivers seems to be the subject of many high end sport watches from not only Audemars Piguet, but also other brands such as Hublot and Richard Mille – can’t say that I know why.

The watch was offered back in 2006 in three limited versions. 500 in 18k pink gold, 150 in 950 platinum, and 1000 in the pictured titanium. The bezel and pushers are done in black ceramic another compound that made its way into the AP survivor watch. You can’t tell here, but the caseback of the watch has an engraved F1 race car steering wheel. With its aggressive looks, the watch appears larger than it is. The case is 42mm wide. The dial of the watch is easy to read in clear Royal Oak Offshore tradition. Notice the different colored subdial hand colors for a cute touch (bright Brazilian flag colors at that). Also note how the dial is partially skeletonized with a view into the movement through the grated section in the middle that would normally display AP’s Mega Tapestry dial pattern. This is interesting as it is one of the earlier contemporary skeletonized watches – which in the last few years has become extremely popular among luxury sport (and otherwise) watches.

What is cool is that while the watch strap is leather, the inner strap is lined with alcantara leather – the famous ‘non-slip’ Italian leather made in just one factory that is popular on race car seats. These straps have always been comfortable and I would venture to say that this type of strap on a Royal Oak Offshore watch might even be an improvement. Notice that the strap on the available watch is perforated as well. Inside the watch is an in-house made Audemars Piguet calibre 2326/2840 automatic mechanical chronograph movement with a 38 hour power reserve. In my opinion this is of the most interesting and attractive limited edition Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore watches out there. Often times AP will simply change a few colors or something like that. Here they really seemed to go the distance and give us something new and interesting. These watches are pretty rare right now. Here one is available on James List. Price is not indicated, but I imagine it would be at least $20,000 or so, maybe a bit more or less.

There are two models of the Chronoris Replica watches. Both are in the same tonneau style case with the integrated lugs,rolex, and the retro looking pushers. The polished edging on the case works nicely with the brushed surfaces. Oris also did a nice job with the watch hands that aren’t too thin – sometimes that was an issue in actual 70′s watches. The basic Chronoris model has just a 30 minute chronograph and the time (with date). This is a stripped down version of the Swiss ETA Valjoux 7750 automatic movement. Then you have another version with a Valjoux 7750, but this time it has been added to instead of stripped down. This more elaborate version has a GMT module on the 7750 movement inside of the watch. Interesting design feature where the subsidiary seconds dial is just nakedly placed over some of the concentric circles on the dial. Further, while the dial might feel a bit busy and full of markers – they are actually all useful.

Watches like this make a great argument for why you need to have more than one Replica watches. How could a singular timepiece style match how you feel all the time? Unless that is, you just don’t pay any attention to what you are wearing on your wrist. This Oris Replica watches Chronoris watch is a perfect example of this fact. If I had one of these Replica watches I would certainly find days when I couldn’t look at it, and other days when all I would want is to wear it. How is that possible?

For me, a lot of their stuff misses my tastes, but a watch like this I can stand behind (when I am in the mood that is).

Other nice details include the round date windows for the black colors date disc, and the large carefully made crowns. You really can’t beat the perforated leather strap with the hint of color on the side for that real 70′s racing feeling. I can’t decide whether I am a bigger fan of the orange or green trim on the watches. Maybe the green? It is certainly more subdued than the orange. An interesting option is the rose gold version of the 42mm wide case,breitling, which is otherwise in steel. That takes a reasonably priced cool watch of $3-4k into a territory that I am not sure about. Why does it exist in my opinion? For 70s era enthusiasts who have reached the level of "I don’t buy anything but gold or platinum Replica watches."
